Siemens job cuts:

Siemens KWU is to cut 1800 jobs world wide in a new phase of restructuring as a result of the integration of the Westinghouse business acquired last year. A total of 100 jobs will go in Europe and 800 in North America. The company said that the cuts are necessary due to overcapacity in the steam turbine market.

Siemens-Westinghouse integration:

Siemens-Westinghouse has announced that it has launched its second phase of restructuring following the takeover of Westinghouse`s fossil business by Siemens last year. The second phase will focus on the optimization of the worldwide manufacturing network and the expansion of service businesses. Annual cost savings brought by this strategy will be in the region of $600m.
