Following the US stating its desire to help Nigeria’s electricity market earlier this month, the government has again expressed an interest to strategically participate in the country’s emerging electricity industry following ongoing reforms to rapidly reposition the country’s electricity sector.

US Ambassador to Nigeria, Terence Mcculley, with the American ambassador for Nuclear Non-proliferation, Bonnie Jenkins, yesterday said that Nigeria should set up credible apparatus to tackle the endemic corruption in the sector.

Mcculley also stated that the US has ‘serious strategic interest’ in investing in the sector.
