Temelin says it is applying to the State Nuclear Safety Office (SUJB) for permission to hike output.

If granted, the nuclear power plant could start supplying the grid before PM Milos Zeman’s meeting tomorrow with Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schussel.

Anti-nuclear activists say strong protests could result, while Austria’s far-right Freedom Party claims it wants to demand an environmental impact assessment of the plant, located near the Austrian border.

The Foreign Ministry, however, indicated that Temelin generated power would not enter the network so soon (Pravo, Sat , HN 1, 2, CTK).
