Bolivian president Evo Morales recently announced that his country is close to becoming a nuclear power, which would make it the third nation in South America to have a civil atomic programme.

According to BNamericas, Morales confirmed that a nuclear programme will be part of Bolivia’s Becntennial plan.

In the region, only Brazil and Argentina currently boost nuclear plants. Argentina is expected to aid Bolivia with the nuclear programme, as well as France.

Other South American countries as Chile and Ecuador are studying the feasibility of nuclear programmes too.
