Germany’s REFUenergy, a division of REFU Elektronik GmbH, has launched REFUtower energy system capable of configuring charge regulators in 2 kW steps for PV, mains and diesel and renewable sources on the input side, as well as storage.

According to the company, the output side also features a flexible design and can either deliver 48V DC directly from the battery or, with the addition of 2, 3 or 4 kVA inverter modules, can generate an off-grid network for AC 230V or three phase at 400V. In addition to this, the company adds, an intelligent bypass switch enables the direct passage of the mains supply or the generator voltage to the end user.

Typical applications besides 48V DC power supplies include all off-grid supplies in combination with solar PV modules, diesel generators and/or unstable mains supplies. The REFUtower is also ideally suited to bridging off-grid periods when being used during temporary mains failure, the company adds.

The new REFUtower comes with LiFePO4 batteries from November 2014.
