Mott MacDonald names new nuclear director

UK-headquartered engineering and development firm Mott MacDonald has appointed Richard Waite as its director of new nuclear generation.

Waite will be responsible for developing the consultancy’s business portfolio in the nuclear generation market by growing its client base and delivering major projects both in the UK and abroad.Richard Waite, Mott MacDonald

He has more than 35 years’ experience in the nuclear and defence industries. He played key roles in the development of Sizewell B in the UK and Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE.

He also five years at the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority as director for engineering, strategy and technology, and programme delivery, as well as chief operating officer and acting chief executive officer.

Peter Black, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for power, said: “Richard’s in-depth knowledge of project management and delivery, commercial awareness and technical ability will make him a great asset to our new nuclear generation initiative. His extensive contacts and networks in the nuclear sector will help raise our profile, win more work and attract high calibre staff.”
