Lithuania to build new nuclear power plant

Lithuania‘s government have given its final approval to the development of a new nuclear power plant which could cost up to $9.10bn to build.

Reuters reports that the nuclear plant is just one of several plans aimed at reducing its dependency on Russian energy sources.

Lithuania has already initialled an outline plan for a 1350 MW nuclear power plant with Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy with an aim to build it by 2020-2022.
