Jordan to seek partner for $5bn nuclear project

Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) is to issue a request for a strategic partner for its planned nuclear plant that is expected to cost between $4bn and $5bn.
Doha-based newspaper Asharq reported that the strategic partner’s stake in the project will range between 50 per cent and 75 per cent, citing Khaled Toukan, JAEC’s chairman.
The signing of the project’s contract is expected to take place in 2012, then the construction phase would begin in 2014/2015, and the project is likely to be completed in 2019, according to Toukan.
