Japan makes leap in renewable power capacity

An incentive programme aimed at bringing about more clean power generation appears to be paying off in Japan as the country has added 1178 MW of such energy in the last nine months.

Following Fukushima, Tokyo has made a concerted effort to reduce nuclear power dependency and 1119 MW of the new generation comes from solar power according to data from the Japanese Ministry of Economy.
Wind rose 34 MW and biomass 22 MW, according to the government figures.
