Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant will be running at full capacity by February next year, according to the head of the country’s Atomic Energy Organisation.

Fereydoun Abbasi told news agency Mehr that the plant, which was disconnected last month for safety tests, will be restarted at the beginning of February to coincide with celebrations marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Bushehr, which has an operational peak of 1 GW, was first connected to the grid in September but taken offline a month later for tests. It was restarted at the beginning of November and will gradually rise to full capacity in the next two months.
