Despite Lithuania’s newly elected government’s negative soundings on the subject of nuclear power for the Baltic nation, Hitachi say they are remaining positive about its development.

Hitachi chief executive Hiroaki Nakanishi was quoted by Reuters as saying, “There might be a slight lag in the time period, but the talks have not been completely suspended.”

In October, Hitachi won a $1.1bn contract to build six nuclear plants in UK, beating Toshiba and its subsidiary Westinghouse.
