An Areva (EuronextCEI)  built nuclear reactor, meant to have entered service three years ago in Finland, has had another setback.

In a statement the Finnish group Teollisuuden Voima Oyj said the 1600 MW Olkiluoto 3 reactor “would not be ready for a normal level of electricity production in 2014”, the revised date for operation.

Areva is in dispute with the Finnish utility over who is to blame for the delays, which have seen $2.45bn of cost over runs, on what the French utility claims will be the safest atomic plant ever built.

The French government owns an 87 per cent stake in the troubled project.
