First Saudi-Russian coordination committee on nuclear power held

The first meeting of the joint Saudi-Russian coordination committee on nuclear power was held earlier this month, with the focus being on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The meeting on March 15th was headed by Waleed bin Hussain Abu Al-Faraj, the deputy chairman of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy and Kirill Komarov, First Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business at the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom“.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy and implementation of joint programmes and projects, in particular, use of technologies and know how, especially in respect of Russian nuclear power and the nuclear power projects Saudi Arabia could participate in.

Russian Federation ambassador to the Kingdom, Oleg Ozerov, was also informed on the ambitious plans of the Kingdom to establish atomic and renewable energy sectors, including the combination of power sources in the Kingdom in the nearest future
