EDF Energy has selected a joint venture (JV) between Bouygues TP and Laing O’Rourke for the civils work contract to build the proposed $3.1bn (£2bn) nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C in Somerset, UK.
The contract includes the construction of the main civils work for the nuclear island, the conventional island and supporting structures, reports EBR.
The work is subject to planning consent and EDF (Euronext: EDF) taking its final investment decision.
EDF Energy chief executive Vincent de Rivaz said the company will work with Bouygues TP/Laing O’Rourke Joint Venture over the next few months to ensure it is in a position to begin work on site once the investment framework and permissions are in place.
