Iran’s first nuclear power plant is back online with generation said to be stable following its disconnection last month for safety tests.

Fereidoun Abbassi, head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), said that the Bushehr plant is moving ahead to reach its full power generation capacity of 1 GW.

Bushehr was connected to the national grid in September, producing an initial 60 MW capacity before it was taken offline in the middle of October.

Abbassi also said that the Iranian authorities will continue their tests to ensure that the power plant is “in full harmony with the national power grid”. He said that the facility operates under the full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
