Russia and Argentina have signed energy agreements that would allow Russian firms to take part in nuclear power plantconstruction projects in the South American country.

“We have signed an integral strategic agreement besides a number of other agreements in different areas,” said Argentinean president Cristina Kirchner, at a presentation with her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Even though there was no firm agreement, both leaders hope to develop strong relationships through these letters of intention in the gas and other energy sectors, the press report said.

Putin said that “our political contacts have intensified in the last few years, they have developed through business but difficulties remain.”
