Areva retains nuclear waste management contract

The French National Radioactive Waste Management Agency (Andra) has renewed its contract with Areva for the operation of the Aube low and intermediate level waste storage centre in Eastern France.

The new contract is expected to last for at least three years and its scope includes the processing, conditioning and storage of the waste.

Areva has been operating the Aube facility for the last 20 years and under the new contract there is the possibility for further extension to 2017.
