Alstom (Euronext: ALO) has secured a contract from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India to supply a turbine generator package for the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project located in Rajasthan, India.
The company, in partnership with Bharat Heavy Electricals, will supply, install and commission the turbine generator packages for the atomic power plant’s Units 7 & 8, which have a capacity of 700MW.
Alstom’s share in the consortium contract is valued at about €100m.
The contract will see the expansion of the nuclear power station’s capacity from the existing 1180MW, which is anticipated to meet the increasing demand for power in India.
Patrick Fragman, Alstom Nuclear Business senior vice president, said: “With India envisioning to increase the contribution of nuclear power to overall electricity generation capacity from 3.2% to 9 % within 25 years, Alstom is well positioned to respond to the country’s ever-increasing electricity requirements.”
