Environmental clearance has been received by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) for the construction of a 6,000MWe Mithivirdi nuclear power plant in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The Gujarat Coastal Zone Management Authority approved the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance for the plant to be built in Mithivirdi village in Bhavnagar district.

The Environmental Impact Assessment report claims that the site where the proposed nuclear facility is to be built is at a safe elevation from the point of tides, floods and tsunami in seismic zone III, according to the Indian Express.
