Wartsila Diesel chosen contractor for Guam `golfer`s paradise` plant

Wartsila Diesel has been chosen as the turnkey operator for the Manenggon Hills Power Plant, which was recently commissioned in Yona, Guam, to provide 10 MW of power for the island nation.

The plant was contracted by Miyama Development International for its LeoPalace Resort project, which is being billed as a “golfer`s paradise,” but the plant will also provide 7 MW of power to the rest of the island on an emergency stand-by basis.

The plant contains two Wartsila Diesel 16V32 generator sets, housed in a concrete reinforced structure, which was built to withstand sustained winds of up to 155 mph and seismic shocks.

The LeoPalace Resort is a 1,300-acre resort and golf club with golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The resort, which covers a full 3 percent of the island, is expected to greatly expand Guam`s tourist economy.
