A 200-kW combined heat and power system will soon supply on-site power for a leisure club, luxury spa and restaurant complex in Burnley, Lancashire, UK.

On-site utility EuroSite Power will install and operate the CHP system for the 100-acre Crow Wood Leisure complex. The system will generate around 2,532,178 kWh per year and save up to 450 tonnes of CO2, EuroSite Power said. According to Paul Hamblyn, the utility’s managing director, this solution is ‘double the size of those systems already operating within our fleet’.
The CHP system will be configured to supply standby power in the event of a power outage. Its addition will bring the total electrical capacity of the centre up to 2128 kW.

Andrew Brown, owner and director of Crow Wood Leisure, said, ‘The energy produced is priced lower than existing and future utility costs, providing immediate and ongoing cost savings.’
