Substation to connect Dutch, German grids

Cegelec, GEC Alsthom and SEP (Samenwerkende Elektriciteits Produktiebedrijven) have accepted a 420-kV metal-clad substation with digital control system to interconnect the German and Dutch grids, as well as connect the new generating units on the Eems site to the current 420-kV grid.

The Alspa P320 digital control system meets all specifications, including dependability, electromagnetic compatibility, high availability and clock accuracy. The system is connected to the Arnhem power control center through a serial interface under the Elcom 90 protocol.
