10 September 2002 – German multi-utility RWE has been given exclusive rights to negotiate the purchase of a 25 per cent stake in Warsaw power distribution company, Stoen.

Polish Treasury officials were reportedly impressed with RWE’s vision for Stoen – to transform it from supplier to multi-utility branching out into media and other services.

Bids were also made by Electrabel, EdF and PSEG Polska who will now have to wait to see if the German company can clinch the deal.
