RWE, Vattenfall and E.ON biggest emitters

German power giants RWE (FWB:à‚ RWE) and E.ON and Sweden’s Vattenfall (FWB:à‚ EOAN) have topped Carbon Data’s rankings of the most carbon-intensive companies in the European Union‘s emissionsà‚ trading scheme for the second successive year.

RWE emitted 157 metric tonnes of CO2, followed by Vattenfall with 92 Mt CO2 and E.On with 90 Mt CO2. à‚ The three companies also had the largest shortfall of surplus carbon allowance.
Carbon Data, a market research firm, takes into account all the companies in which the groups have stakes and its rankings report came after announcements of verified emissions reports for 2012.
