Portuguese plant plans NOx project

Rolls-Royce?s International Combustion has garnered a (US)$39 million order for environmentally friendly burners for a Portuguese power station. The burners will cut NOx emissions by 58 percent at the Sincs power plant. International Combustion will convert up to four 315 MW coal-fired boiler units, each using 20 front wall, low-NOx burners.

Plant owner Companhia Portuguesa de Producao de Electricidade has ordered conversion of one unit with options on the other three. The burners should be in place this spring.
