Origin Energy says the first of two gas-fired generators is ready to provide electricity to the Victorian market in Australia.
The 550 MW gas-fired power station is sited near Mortlake in southwestern Victoria.
It has two gas turbines and will help meet the growing demand for peak electricity in eastern Australia.
Completion of the power station’s second unit was delayed for an inspection after a switchyard fault that occurred during the final stages of the unit’s commissioning.
