An offshore oil and gas production facility 120 km northwest of Abu Dhabi, UAE, is set to benefit from on-site power technology from Rolls-Royce of the UK.

Five aero-derivative Trent 60 gas turbine generator sets will be supplied by Rolls-Royce to the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company, which plans to build collection and transfer facilities for oil drilled on 86 wells at the Satah Al-Razboot oil field (pictured).

The project also involves building a facility on Zirku Island to separate gas from crude oil collected in the Satah Al-Razboot and Umm Al Lulu fields.

The Zirku Island processing facility will have a daily capacity of 200,000 barrels of oil and 35 million cubic feet (close to 1 million cubic metres) of gas.

The five gensets will power offshore production platforms and the Zirku Island facilities. Each turbine can produce up to 66 MW of power and will feature low emissions technology to minimise environmental impact, Rolls Royce said.
