New Saudi Electricity CEO to champion cogeneration

The new CEO of Saudi Electricity, Ziad bin Mohammed al-Shiha, is a keen supporter of cogeneration technology.

Al-Shiha is to vacate his role as manager for power systems at Saudi Aramco in order to replace Ali bin Saleh Al-Barrack as CEO of the Saudi Electricity Company, according to Reuters.

The Gulf’s largest utility firm is to have at its helm a new chief executive who has called for efforts to make power generation more efficient and has promoted cogeneration plants in his previous post.

Ali bin Saleh Al-Barrak, who has served as CEO since October 2006, will resign effective next January 1 “upon his own request,” the company said on Monday.
