Martensitic stainless steel

The ARCLOK 1000 is a high-strength, martensitic stainless steel. It has a minimum yield strength of 950 MPa and three times the resistance to both cavitation and erosion of conventional martensitic stainless steels. The new steel is lighter in weight and offers increased fatigue strength.

The two principal applications for ARCLOK are for the production of hydroturbine castings and for ships` propeller castings. ARCLOK has good toughness values due to its low carbon content and its low gas content.

Slight modifications in the chemical composition and heat treatment give it a fully martensitic microstructure without causing any significant reduction in its austenite or delta-ferrite content.
