Marks & Spencers have announced that they are now fully carbon-neutral, the first UK retailer to achieve it, and waste generated power has assisted it in meeting the objective.

The company now recycles 100 per cent of its waste and of its food waste from stores, 89 per cent goes straight to anaerobic digestors to generate energy and the rest is composted.

M&S has become the first major UK retailer to become fully ‘carbon neutral’, five years after launching its sustainability project, ‘Plan A’.
