The chief executive of RWE, Peter Terium, has lauded the credentials of Hildegard Mueller who has agreed to join the board of Germany’s largest utility.

Mueller, head of the utility lobby, German Association of Energy and Water Industries, (BDEW) since 2008, and a member of the German parliament from 2002 to 2008, will take on “a role on a board of one of the Group companies” from May 1, RWE said.

RWE Chief Executive Peter Terium said in a statement that the company was delighted to have Mueller’s expertise join the company.

“She was instrumental in shaping the association (BDEW) in recent years, which have been a very difficult time for the industry,” Terium said.

According to Die Welt newspaper Mueller will become a member of the board of directors at the utility and will likely be in charge of the renewable branch within the company, which has recently announced that it will split conventional from renewable operations.
