GE Sensing and Inspection Technologies has introduced its Prime 16×16 Portable, the latest addition to its range of X-ray detectors. The new detector, weighs just over 5 kg and can be connected to a laptop computer to produce images for instant review, allowing it to be used in areas previously limited to radiography by the more time-consuming film or Computed Radiography (CR) techniques. Typical applications will include field applications in the oil and gas, aerospace and power generation sectors.
The Prime 16×16 Portable is a 200µm detector and has a large active scanning area of 16in x 16in (41cmx41cm), the company says.
The detector is of particular interest to users who tend to process high volumes of film and take flat shots where its application can provide significant reductions in inspection costs.
