Dominican Republic:

The director of the Dominican Electricity Corporation (CDE) has said that the government should either privatize the company or invest $1bn to meet the country`s future energy needs. Mr. Radhames Segura said that private capital, rather than state funding, would be preferable in order to cope with demand levels, which are expected to reach 1700 MW in 2000 up from the current level of 1400 MW.
