Bonneville Power orders 110 fuel cells

The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) has signed a contract with Northwest Power Systems (NPS) to purchase 110 fuel cells for small-scale consumers. BPA will take first delivery of the proton exchange membrane units this autumn.

BPA has conducted trials with prototypes over the last two years and has decided to move ahead with a large-scale project. The agency will work with local utilities to place the units in the homes of interested customers. Initially ten 3 kW units will be installed and tested in homes local utilities involved in the project. NPS will then make any adjustments before delivering the remaining 100 units.
