Blackout fines allocated
Argentina`s Empresa Distri- buidora Sur SA (Edesur) has allotted Peso75m ($75m) to cover the penalties it will have to pay relating to the blackout in Buenos Aires earlier this year. A total of 156 000 consumers in the capital city were left without power on February 15 for up to 24 hours.
Edesur will not challenge a regulatory decree which has levied heavy fines on the company, estimated to be around Peso60m. On top of these fines, Edesur has agreed to create a payment plan to compensate users affected by the blackout.
