Baglan `H` plant approved
UK trade and industry minister Stephen Byers has given Section 36 approval for the 500 MW power plant at Baglan Energy Park in South Wales.
The 500 MW plant will be the first to feature GE`s advanced H technology system, designed to reached efficiencies of 60 per cent in combined cycle operation.
Byers approved the project following a public review in Wales. The plant will supply steam and power to commercial and industrial facilities on the Energy Park, including a BP-Amoco chemicals facility.
The $500m plant will enter service in 2002.
