E.ON Russia has officially commissioned two new CCGT units with a combined capacity of 800 MW at its Surgutskaya GRES-2 power station in West Siberia.
Each 400 MW CCGT unit has an efficiency of 55.9 per cent, more than one third higher than the average efficiency of power units in Russia’s power industry. This high efficiency is in line with E.ON’s strategy to produce cleaner energy, said the company. Capacity commissioned under E.ON Russia’s €2.8bn ($4.0bn) investment programme totals 2400 MW.
“With the acquisition of the Russian power generator OGK-4 in 2007, E.ON is now one of the largest buyers of Russian gas but also the biggest foreign investor in the Russian power market,” said Dr Bernhard Reutersberg, a member of the E.ON AG Board of Management.
“The commissioning of two new power units constructed using the most advanced technologies shows that we are committed to completely fulfilling our obligations on time – and to further developing our long-term relations with Russia.”
