The government of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo is studying the feasibility of an energy auction for solar, biomass and gas-fired projects, energy secretary Joao Carlos Meirelles told local news provider Canal Energia.

The local government could participate in the auctions as a buyer, intermediary or temporary investor through the firm Companhia Energetica de Sao Paulo (Cesp). Cesp could have an indefinite number of shares in the projects in order to facilitate the process.

According to Seenews, the state’s current power consumption is around 300 MW.
