City Plaza Hotel in Cluj-Napoca, in Romania, has commissioned a new gas-fired combined heat and power system.
Developed by the EnergoBit ESCO company and funded with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the project makes the hotel (pictured) the first in Romania to improve its energy performance under the ESCO concept.
The five-star City Plaza hotel project involved an investment of some €200,000 ($245,000) and it will supply 65% of the annual heat demand and 53% of the annual electricity demand. The investment is expected to be recovered within a period of eight to nine years.
‘The investment in the new plant was of €200,000 and improves energy efficiency while reducing gas and electricity consumption. The plant enables savings of heat and electricity by about 20%,’ said Cosmin Sindean, the hotel manager.
