12 September 2002 – Britain’s Rolls Royce Pte Ltd, and its Indonesian partner, PT Essarindo Tirta Jasa, is to build an 80 MW gas fired power plant in Wajo district, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The two companies plan to construct and operate the power plant, with the local government will supply the gas,” Wajo district head, Naharuddin Tinulu, said Wednesday.

Naharuddin said the power plant is expected to provide electricity not only to South Sulawesi but also to neighbouring Southeast Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi as well. He said the representatives of the two companies and local government officials signed a memorandum of understanding on the project last Monday.

With an increased electricity supply, Wajo is expected to lure more foreign investors, he said.
