Centrica Energy has awarded Alstom (ALO:FP) a EUR120m ($157m) contract for maintenance services at its South Humber Bank power station, located in the north of the UK.

The agreement covers the five gas turbines installed at the 1260 MW combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) over the next seven years.

The contract also includes delivery of two upgrade packages, following the successful validation of the first upgrade conducted by Alstom in February 2012.

According to Tony Lyon, plant manager at South Humber Bank, the upgrades will increase the combined-cycle plant’s output, and the resulting plant efficiency gain will reduce fuel costs and carbon emissions.
