Mexico’s Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) has awarded Acciona of Spain a contract to design, build and commission a new thermal power station in Baja California.

The phase 1 contract for the 229 CT-TG Baja California II is valued at $104m, and the project is expected to take 16 months.

The natural gas-fired plant will be located within the existing Presidente Juarez complex in the municipality of Playas de Rosarito, 22.5 km south of Tijuana.

According to Acciona, this latest contract consolidates its business in Mexico where it recently completed and commissioned the La Paz power plant.
