Parsons Brinckerhoff, in partnership with Kvaerner, has received a contract from Calpine Garrison LLC, a subsidiary of Calpine Corporation, to design and build the Garrison Energy Center, a 309 MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) in the state of Delaware.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
The joint venture will perform the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the facility.
Parsons Brinckerhoff will be responsible for the design, procurement of the balance of plant equipment and the commissioning, while Kvaerner will lead the joint venture and construct the high-efficiency combined-cycle facility.
The project is expected to begin construction in early 2013 with completion during the summer of 2015.
According to George J. Pierson, President and CEO of Parsons Brinckerhoff (pictured): “The Garrison Energy Center aligns with our strategy to focus on EPC gas-fired power plant construction as the designer, while partnering with the contractor.
“As the industry continues to shift to cleaner burning natural gas, we anticipate a significant number of projects in North America over the next decade.”
