Microturbine CHP a ‘market first’ for Peru

An industrial combined heat and power (CHP) system in Peru is to run on a 200 kW C200 microturbine from Capstone Turbine Corporation, the company has announced.

The firm received the order for the gas-fired turbine through ISI Mustang, its Peruvian distributor. The system is expected to be commissioned in early 2016.

Capstone said the microturbine will be installed in a grid connect configuration to provide electricity and heating to the customer’s facility for local processing and production purposes.

Darren Jamison, Capstone’s president and CEO, said his firm is focused on growing its business in Latin America. ‘Peru, Columbia, Brazil, Chile and Ecuador are key markets for our continued growth in the region and will provide further diversification of growing our CHP business,’ he said. à‚

Jim Crouse, Capstone’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, added: ‘This industrial project, a market first for the country of Peru, showcases the progress we are making with geographical and market diversification. By working more closely with our distributors, we see significantly more interest in commercial and industrial CHP.’
