KDM Energia, a Chilean power firm, is set to expand the capacity of its Loma Los Colorados biogas fired power plant to 18 MW from its current 11.8 MW by the end of the first half of this year.

The plant’s capacity expansion involves the addition of four specialty gas engines manufactured by GE, representing an investment of $4m.

A total investment of $35m is envisaged by KDM Energy to raise the capacity to 50 MW in 2045.

Located in the Tiltil municipality, 60 km north of Chile’s capital, the facility provides energy to Chile’s central power network (SIC).
