Iran inaugurates gas power plant

Iran has announced the completion of a 484 MW gas power plant in the Yazd in central Iran.

The combined cycle power plant had an approximate cost of $49m.

Deputy energy minister Mohammad Behzad said the value of Iran’s electricity exports was projected to exceed $1bn by the end of March 2013, adding that since last year, Iran has exported more than 9.2 GWh of electricity to neighbouring countries.

Iranian’s energy ministry is hoping to reach a target of 73 GW in capacity this year.
