1,379 renewable energy projects totalling 38.917 GW have been put forward by developers for Brazil’s next reserve power auction in November.
The government, through federal energy planning company EPE, said announced that the bid round will include 730 wind farms with combined installed capacity of 17.964 GW, and 649 solar plants totalling 20.953 GW.
Bahia was the state with the most projects, with 435; followed by Rio Grande do Norte (281) and Ceará (129).
Brazil’s reserve energy auctions are designed to guarantee supply by providing supplementary power to the country’s grid. It will be the second reserve auction this year after the first – held for gas-fired thermoelectric plants earlier this month – failed to attract a bid.
