Germany’s Metro Group puts two CHP units into service

German company Metro Properties has launched combined heat and power units (CHP) at two of its Cash & Carry location in Dusseldorf and Berlin.

The two METRO Cash & Carry locations at Dàƒ¼sseldorf and Berlin-Marienfelde put their own heat and power units into service. From now on, the two stores can produce electricity and heat from natural gas and will benefit from reduced energy costs.

The two stations have been constructed in cooperation with EON (FWB:à‚ EOAN).

Energy efficiency and energy costs have become increasingly important to German business in recent times. Olaf Schulze, Managing Director of METRO PROPERTIES Energy Management GmbH told International Supermarket News “With an own production all the costs and charges related to the grid-based procurement, such as the Renewable Energies Act levy, can be avoided.”
