Fuel cell CHP system launched

A new fuel cell combined heat and power (CHP) system was launched this week, Norway-based developer IMS ECUBES has announced.

The 5 kWe/7 kWth natural gas-fired system is the first of a planned range expected to ultimately produce power and heat at megawatt scale, IMS ECUBES said, while the current unit is modular and can be aggregated.

‘We will be releasing a series of larger models as part of a comprehensive range of CHP units over the next few years,’ a company spokesperson told Decentralized Energy. ‘The next models in the range will provide electrical outputs of 10 kW, 25 kW and 50 kW.’à‚

IMS ECUBES CTO Dr Ben Todd said: ‘I believe that we are on the cusp of a revolution in the development and deployment of fuel cell CHP systems like ours and that they will become commonplace over the next 10 to 15 years, enabling more consistent zero carbon energy generation and supply.’
