In a move to save energy costs amounting to over 5% of its annual sales, an Italian packaging manufacturer is to power a production plant with a combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) system.
Milan-headquartered global packaging manufacturer Goglio has engaged German energy management solutions firm E.ON Connecting Energies to build, own and operate the new CCHP plant, which is expected to be completed in September. The plant is predicted to save Goglio around 30% on electricity prices and around 20% on its total annual energy costs. It is also expected to reduce carbon emissions by 6300 tonnes per year.
The system’s availability and productivity will be guaranteed by a data connection to ECT’s 24/7 remote control centre, E.ON Connecting Energies said.
Dr Franco Goglio, president and owner, said, ‘We are firmly convinced that this new power plant represents a very efficient solution in line with our desire to excel in quality and performance whilst being mindful of environmental issues.’
